Find every ocean monument in your seed

Find the ocean monuments in your world. Enter your seed and the map marks each one, along with the deep ocean it sits in. Click any marker for its exact chunk and a teleport command you can paste straight into chat.

Monuments generate in deep ocean biomes on a 32 chunk grid, using triangular spread so they favour the middle of each region. Turn the biome layer on and you will see every marker sitting in dark blue.

Why go to a ocean monument

Monuments hold sponges, which nothing else provides, plus eight gold blocks in the treasure chamber. Guardians and elder guardians defend them, and the mining fatigue effect makes an unprepared trip miserable.

Frequently asked questions

How do I find a ocean monument in Minecraft?

Enter your world seed and every ocean monument in range is marked on the map. Click a marker to see its chunk and copy a /tp command straight to it. Turn the biome layer on to see the terrain around it before you set off.

Where do ocean monuments generate?

Monuments generate in deep ocean biomes on a 32 chunk grid, using triangular spread so they favour the middle of each region. Turn the biome layer on and you will see every marker sitting in dark blue.

What is inside a ocean monument?

Monuments hold sponges, which nothing else provides, plus eight gold blocks in the treasure chamber. Guardians and elder guardians defend them, and the mining fatigue effect makes an unprepared trip miserable.

How do I deal with mining fatigue?

Elder guardians inflict it on sight and it makes mining almost impossible. Either kill all three elder guardians first, or drink milk to clear the effect each time it is applied.

Where are the sponges?

In the sponge rooms, which do not appear in every monument. The guaranteed loot is the eight gold blocks behind the elder guardian in the treasure chamber.

Does this work for Minecraft Bedrock Edition?

Yes. Use the Java / Bedrock toggle above the map. Be aware the two editions are not interchangeable: since 1.18 they share terrain and biome generation, so the landscape for a given seed looks nearly the same, but structures like villages and strongholds use edition-specific placement and end up in different places. Bedrock also uses 32-bit seeds where Java uses 64-bit.

Is my seed sent to a server?

No. The whole map is computed in your browser with JavaScript. Your seed never leaves your device, there is no account, and no download is necessary.

Can I share a link to what I am looking at?

Yes. The address bar updates as you pan and zoom, so you can copy the URL at any time, or press Copy link. Anyone opening it lands on the same seed at the same position and zoom.

What do the grid lines mean?

The fine grid is chunks (16x16 blocks), which is the unit slime chunks and mob spawning work in. The heavier grid is regions (512x512 blocks, or 32x32 chunks), which is the unit Minecraft uses when deciding where to place structures. Brighter lines through the middle mark the world origin at X=0, Z=0.
