How to play Minecraft Connections
Tap four tiles you think share something, then press Submit. If all four belong together, the group locks in at the top with its colour and the reason behind it.
If they do not, you lose one of your 4 mistakes. When three of the four are right, the game tells you that you are one away.
Shuffle moves the tiles around, which often helps you see a group you missed.
What the groups can be
Every group comes from the game data, the same facts listed on each item and mob page. You might see:
- Items of one colour, such as four red dyed blocks.
- Items made from the same material, like copper or prismarine.
- Items crafted with the same ingredient, such as string or a stick.
- Things that burn as furnace fuel, or that you get by smelting.
- Items that stack to 16 instead of 64, or do not stack at all.
- Mobs you can breed, mobs you can tame, and mobs that burn in sunlight.
- Names that share a word, like Nether or Golden.
The colours run from yellow, the easiest group, through green and blue to purple, the trickiest.
Difficulty levels
Easy uses two plain groups, such as Equipment or Hostile mobs. Normal swaps one for a harder link. Hard always adds one tricky group, such as a word the names share.
Each level keeps its own daily board and its own stats.
Tips
- Look for the purple group first. Odd links like stack size hide behind easier ones.
- When five tiles seem to fit one group, one of them belongs somewhere else. Leave that group for later.
- Open an item page after the round to see the recipe that put it in its group.
